Are you fired up and ready go? Because today is the day you can make the biggest impact on the 2018 election. Markos has said early campaign donations can be used to raise more campaign donations -- effectively doubling their size, and then doubling them again and again. So a $100 donation to the Democratic Senate Campaign now turns into $400, $800, or even $1600 by the time election day rolls around. And that turns into 100 hours of a campaign worker knocking on doors in a crucial state.
But that's just the beginning…
Whichever party holds the presidency always loses seats in the next election. And that's great news for the Democrats, who are just three seats away from controlling the Senate. But more importantly, with a wave election the Democrats could even take back the House of Representatives.
The whole point of the Republicans' gerrymandered districts was to spread around their votes, so they'd win by smaller margins in more districts. But that also makes every Congressman vulnerable if their party's leader suddenly becomes hugely unpopular. It happened in 2006 -- after Hurricane Katrina -- when Dubya Bush led his party to a massive defeat in which than ActBlue link where you can make a donatione Democrats didn't lose a single House seat in the election, while the Republicans lost 28. And this time the Democrats only need 24 house seats to take back the Congress… (Here’s an ActBlue link where you can make a donation.)
This is the one place where Trump helps Democrats -- tremendously It's a given that Trump will be wildly unpopular in 2018. (He's already (officially) the least popular president in U.S. history.) He's made promises he had no intention of keeping, will undoubtedly commit disastrous foreign policy blunders, and seems into on trying to kill social security -- which even Trump's base
Here's why this becomes extremely important. Doesn't Trump remind you of Nixon -- with his transparent dishonesty, his quest for vengeance, and disdain for any institutional checks? Trump's already made enemies at the FBI and the CIA -- the very thing that made "Deep Throat" start leaking to the Washington Post. I have every confidence that Trump will eventually be impeached -- leading to catastrophic unpopularity for the Republican party. (It guarantees a huge chunk of 2016 voters will switch to supporting Democrats -- for example, the blue-collar Obama voters who switched to Trump.)
But when Trump does get impeached, and the Democrats have a chance to make huge gains in the 2018 or 2020 election -- here's what you don't want to find yourself saying. "Gee, I wish I'd made a campaign donation as soon as I could -- back in January of 2017. Then we could've used that to raise even more money for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to finally take back the House and Senate."
If you really want to do something -- don't miss this opportunity.
